  • October's Photo Challenge : Waterfalls

Aspire has won last months Challenge and he has chosen "Waterfall's" as Octobers theme.

The winner of this month's contest will receive a Pro Smugmug account (or $25 print credit at said site) for a year!

Please read all the rules so we are all on the same page.

    The rules are:

-In the best spirit of the challenge, please make a new image along this theme, but we will accept old images too.

-1 entry per member. You can change your entry photo as much as you like (please do so by editing your own post to reduce clutter), but when I close the thread at the end of the month, you are locked in.

-You must use an external host for your photo. Click the rising sun icon above the reply box to

-Keep your posted photo's resolution to 1000 pixels on the long side. Any more, and you will be DQ'ed at the end of the month. Not everyone has 1024+ resolution, so please be considerate of the folks out there still on 800x640 monitors. This will be enforced this month. Make sure you are safe on resolution.

-PG-13 or safer. As usual, our member base has no problems adhering to the rules, but we do want to keep this site very work friendly and that includes this contest.

If I don't give you a hard time at some point then it just means I don't like you. It's all fun and games.

Mac, Why in the world would you want to change that one? It is amazing.
Without others thinking you are good, it doesn't matter how good you think you are.

Thanks for your kind words Dave. I love that one too and condidering the enzyte treatment for framing. I had to really work for that one so I guess it means more when you work for it to make a picture....

I actually have another waterfalls composition I have been waiting for 9 years to re-shoot. I am leaving for a trip up to Bodie and the E Sierra and plan on a hike to Rainbow falls. I was there in '00 and shot it with film. Didn't have time to go to the bottom that visit. I am hoping that the **** tree fell over by then and the peeps are gone. I also hope to have the sun at a 45˚ angle for a better Rainbow and ambient light. Here is a digitized version (scanned from film).

re: October's Photo Challenge : Waterfalls

Okay, I'll play. Multnomah Falls is the second-tallest year-round waterfall in the nation. The water of the Falls drops 620 feet from its origin on Larch Mountain. Unusually cold weather can freeze the plummeting water into a majestic icicle.

Throw a little light. If it doesn't come back, it probably fell off...
                        Cheers
