  • Greetings from a native

    ....San Diegan that is.

Just wanted to say hello to everybody. I just joined the forum after a recommendation from meecelin (Hi Celin! Good game last night!). In July I picked up a Canon T1i after using an ultrazoom (Kodak DX7590) for the past several years and becoming a regular shutterbug. I've quickly graduated into the addicted hobbyist stage in a few short, wallet punishing months.

I'm learning a lot and have so much more to learn and many hours to practice. Any C&C on my images are always welcome. I still have to learn what is off with my shots.

    Until next time...

Recent shot of Cardiff beach with my Sigma 24-70 f/2.8.

    Great to have you Carl!

I have that same lens but hardly use it. I've actually taken the whole thing apart before too :-0

The plastic bearings that the rails use are substandard and break.

Thanks, Nick. So far the Sigma has been fine. Don't have any L glass to compare it to, but it sure was a step up from the kit lens. :-). Would have loved to get the L version but couldn't justify it so soon. Maybe someday.

The Sigma 24-70 2.8 is a fantastic lens, Only thing I don't like about it is how noisy the motor is.

Hi Jared! Glad to see you on here. It was a great game Tuesday night. I can't believe how much I miss softball.

BTW...I have the Canon 24-70 2.8L and 70-200 2.8L if you ever want to compare.

            Thanks, Celin.

BTW - yes, my name is Jared, but my signature orignially did not have my name; just the Caddyshack quote. Hence Nick's usage of Carl. I really shoud be more clear on this interweb thingy. ;-)

Welcome to the forum from another n00bie.

Checked out your shots. Good stuff. I especially like the wiffle ball shot. Also, that pic from dog park(?) with the shep and the lab... is that your lab? I've got a white lab too, only he's not so white in this shot... He was helping me dig up some irrigation in the yard.

Thanks, Rekd. Nice dog you got there. So helpful with the digging. :-). My dog, Bear is the black dog in the photos and my current avatar (looks like a lab but is a lab, rott, Dane mix...huge 115 teddybear). He is easily my most photographed subject in the past 4 years (>1k shots). It's always nice to have a willing subject who doesn't ask you to delete shots they don't like.
