  • Coffee Table Book Project

    Hey Everyone!

I would like to assemble a coffee table book comprised of photographs submitted by members of this forum. This first volume will not have any restrictions on subject matter. The title of the book will be:

The Eclectic Collection Volume I: Through the Eyes of SDPF Photographers

This first collection will be paper back, probably printed up by one of the on-line outfits such as MPIX or the likes. Depending on the number of submissions, I'm guessing that the book will be around $20 - great Xmas gift! If I get a lot of participation, I may do other books in the future with specific subjects such as landscape, portraits, street photography, nature, etc. as the theme of the book.

Let me know if there is interest in doing this project. If I get a warm response, I'll post submission guideline, due date, etc. later this week. I'm thinking that we need to have all the photos submitted no later than the end of this month. I will then set up a gallery of photos that will be published in this book. Depending on the lead time to get the books printed, we'll have to set a deadline for book orders - probably end of first week of December.

I'd be in for submission as well as purchase. Timeline sounds good, perfect for gifting it to friends/relatives.

For ~$20, how many shots would be in the book?
See my user profile for gear information. Then forget about that stuff and go take pictures! And then some more pictures!

Anthony, at about $20 it will probably be a 30-40 page book, so 80 - 100 photos? I'm still looking into the cost.

If this goes as planned next year we will go all out with an ISBN publisher etc.

                  Stay tuned.

Yo Nick! Looks like there is interest in doing a coffee table book....so we need an ftp site for people to submit photos. I'll come up with submission guidelines (along with info the photographers should submit with their photos) in the next day or so. We saw come awesome coffee table books at the Photo Expo over the weekend!
