  • And now for something similar... roses...

Feeling a little over-spent at the florist, I raided my mother's garden for a couple of rose buds. It's much harder to be "original" with roses; indeed, the only real choice seems to be between "classic" and "cliche" . . . hopefully you'll find these more on the "classic" side. I may shoot a few more once the tighter bud opens up.

C&C welcome, though what more can be said about roses?

As Brian mentioned 'a rose is a rose' and how do you do something different with one. The first shot is something different, looking into a rose without the classic spiral center, and for that reason I prefer it.
Without others thinking you are good, it doesn't matter how good you think you are.

If I had a room that I wanted to brighten up, I would use #1 and do a stretch canvas or some kind of frameless hanging (it's unique).

          Brian:

If you want to shoot roses, and a wide variety of them in a wide array of colors and from bud to half to full open, check out the rose garden on Park Avenue right across from the Prado Fountain. I have many, many rose shots from there. Best thing is that it's free.

I really like the first one, it's the most unique of the bunch. The third one definitely has a classic look to it, also very nice!
