  • 16-35mm f/2.8L Lens Test

I picked up this puppy a little over a week ago for half the price of a new one. Took it for a test drive over the weekend, camping at Lake Skinner. A little soft wide open but not too bad.

Thanks fixci. For lenses this wide the bokeh is usually not a strong point due to the huge DOF that come with the territory. I am putting together the next workshop which will be on nothing but lenses. Hopefully in the next few days I'll have the class outline and a date chosen. This would be a good one for you as you are at the beginning of your lens purchasing journey.

Very tricksy he is... (in reference to #3)
Throw a little light. If it doesn't come back, it probably fell off...

Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 Lovin' it. I could glue it to my camera and be happy.
Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 It's the older model w/o the AF motor and it focuses FAST. It's just like the 17-50, only longer.

HAHA # 3 is the bestest for me. I had to triple take on it. Ill save my question on it for a later post :-) I do think though that a horizon crop is in order to make it level even though it might be, the composition makes it look like the water is all gunna fall of to the right.

LOL - was wondering how long it would take someone to figure out #3. I thought about leveling out the horizon but unfortunately I did not get a chance to take a second photo where I could frame it a little better. Leveling out on this one would have lopped off part of the girl's head and it looked funny.

I suppose you can clone then heal her head into the shot? It can be done!

Actually, since I despise the cloning feature (For Prints) I didn't use it here.

My favorite is the last one. I really like the focus and blur throughout the hair...
