  • Fun at Palomar - A weekend to remember

A thread for everyone's images from the Mt. Palomar camping trip. We all had a blast and thanks again to Ty for the quick informal workshop. Still learned a bunch in 20 mins.

Heres one from the sunset, I need to stop showing people my ideas, Viveks observatory shots look just like mine.

Trabuco Mountain in the distance. :took me 20 min to figure out what mount it was :-)

I don't believe you even shoot anymore. I heard this same talk of ideas being held close to the chest at borrego and I've never seen anything come of it.

Re: Fun at Palomar - A weekend to remember

Flickr, for the first time has robbed my vibrance in the colors... Meh!

Starting with sunset on the way up.

Of course with sunset brings FIRE to life...

With the glow of flashlights both in and out of tents the campground rests under the beautiful clear skies.

            Nick relaxes by the fire.

            San Diego lies down there...

Messing around with Ty's 50 1.4 we find Mac during Ty's quickie workshop.

            Da Observatory!

With a smirk on his face Ty revels in the amazement of his new 5D MKII.

Of course when you're camping with Ty his kids are used to posing for the camera. They've even learned to bring books along while all the togs get their camera settings right.

San Diego hidden by low clouds.

GLOW BUGS! You guys Missed out!

I was hoping to find just one and ended up finding 3! The genus of the bugs are "Lampyridae".

One pictured is a female advertising for a male which can glow too but rarely does.

Marshall, your words (and photos) brought me up the mountain in a(n) (epic) way that no travel ever could.

What's up with you guys using my word?
See my user profile for gear information. Then forget about that stuff and go take pictures! And then some more pictures!

                  Thanks.

Wasn't aware that you created the word but none the less, we're having a little fun at the way Vivek said it last night around the fire.

A great collection of photos from all who have posted here.

The photo of Ty is just fantastic, the photo of his kid reading is awesome. Love the long night shot with the stars moving and the lights in the tents.

Vivek's #2 of the dragonfly is stunning in detail and color.

Sadly I couldn't be there, looks like you all had a great time.

Had a blast, thanks to everyone for the great company. Forced myself to shoot with the 50mm all weekend...definitely a challenge. And yes, the colors are off thanks to the magical beast that is flickr.

                              Couple more...

Zhuster, rockin his netbook to finish up his paper due for school the next day.

More of the kids... Completely blew the framing in the second shot, tried to crop it back to life.

                              Experimenting with color filters...

I actually liked the business of this last shot of the sunset. Weed and all.
